Health officials, immunisation experts and development partners have gathered in Douala for a five-day Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Workshop of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) to assess the programme’s performance during the first half of 2026 and define priorities for the remainder of the year.The workshop, which opened on July 27 in the Douala, brought together officials from the EPI Central coordination, representatives of the 10 Regional Coordination Offices, and technical and financial partners. Participants are reviewing the programme’s achievements, validating first-half reports and identifying adjustments to the 2026 Annual Work Plan for implementation during the second semester.The meeting offers an opportunity for stakeholders to evaluate progress in routine immunisation and strengthen strategies aimed at increasing vaccine coverage and improving public health outcomes across the country.
Opening the workshop, the Regional Delegate for Public Health for the Littoral Region Mr. Yopndoi Charles commended the EPI Central Coordination and its partners for their continued support to the national immunisation programme.He acknowledged the challenges still confronting the programme while highlighting the opportunities for improving service delivery. He called for efficiency, collaboration and professionalism, he urged participants to develop practical recommendations that would contribute to achieving the objectives assigned to the EPI by the Ministry of Public Health.The first day focused on reviewing the implementation of recommendations from the previous monitoring and evaluation workshop, assessing preparations for the current session, examining the first-half performance of central-level EPI sections.The workshop that will run 27-31 of July will see participants evaluating, amend and validate key reports and recommendations that will guide the implementation of immunisation activities during the second half of 2026.
