Strengthening Health Care Delivery:Motorcycles to Boost Outreach in

Sixteen health districts in the Littoral Region have receive 33 new motorcycles to improve access to hard-to-reach communities and strengthen healthcare delivery.

Health facilities across the Littoral Region have received motorcycles aimed at enhancing vaccination outreach and other essential healthcare services, particularly in remote and hard-to-reach communities. The motorcycles, acquired through the support of the Ministry of Public Health and its development partners like GAVI were officially handed over to beneficiaries as part of ongoing efforts to improve healthcare coverage and service delivery in the region.During the official handing over on Monday June 15, the coordinator of the expanded immunization program Mr. Ewane Leonard noted that challenges related to transportation have long hindered the ability of healthcare workers to effectively carry out outreach activities in several localities. The new motorcycles are expected to bridge this gap by facilitating movement between health facilities and communities.

On his part the Regional delegate of Public health for littoral Mr Charles Yopndoi, emphasized that the motorcycles would not only support immunization campaigns but also other health interventions at the community level. He added that several health districts, including those located in difficult terrains, benefitted from the initiative. He further explained that improving vaccination coverage remains a priority in the Littoral Region. The provision of the motorcycles forms part of broader strategies aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and ensuring that no community is left behind.• Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Public Health and its partners for what they described as a timely intervention. According to Madam Beatrice Sone of the Nkongsamba health district the motorcycles will significantly increase the number of outreach activities conducted by her health facility, thereby improving vaccination coverage and access to healthcare services.”We often face difficulties reaching distant communities due to inadequate transportation. These motorcycles will enable us to carry out more outreach activities and bring healthcare services closer to the population,” She stated The beneficiaries pledged to make effective use of the motorcycles to enhance healthcare services, particularly in underserved areas. They expressed confidence that the new equipment would contribute significantly to improving public health indicators and expanding access to essential health services throughout the region.
