21 Days of Y’ello Care:Japoma District Hospital Laboratory Underway

The Japoma district hospital the Douala III subdivision will benefit from a CFA 60 million Biomedical Diagnostic Laboratory. The revelation was made on Thursday May 28 at the hospital premises as med practitioners and other stakeholders visited the construction site.The initiative is part of the 21 days of Y’ello care by MTN Cameroon .The 21 Days of Y’ello Care is an employee-led initiative of the MTN Group, which each year delivers a high-impact social action around a specific theme, bringing together staff, partners, healthcare professionals, and communities to improve access to essential services across the country.The 2026 campaign runs from June 1 to June 21 under the theme “Expand Equitable Health for Every Community,” with the ambition to strengthen access to preventive, primary, and quality healthcare, particularly in rural, underserved, and hard-to-reach areas.For the interim director in charge of administrative affairs at the Japoma District Hospital Doctor Diffo Collens, the laboratory will be constructed on a surface area of 150 square metres and will have up-to-date equipment. He said with the upgrading of the hospital there was a need for a modern laboratory to meet up with the standard. For representative of the Japoma district health centre Madam Nathalie Epoune Nguinya the Japoma district hospital covers a land surface of about 75000 square metres and a population of about 300.000 from all walks of life including IDPs.For her, the laboratory will serve the entire population and not only the people in Japoma. She revealed that there are about 150 health centres of which only three are government owned as such the up coming laboratory will serve the entire area.

Meanwhile the head of the communication from the royal Palace of Bakoko Mbog Eboutibe , the palace has mobilize the entire population to turn out during the 21 days to ensure the project comes to fruition .
