As a decisive move to restore the credibility and influence of civil society organizations in Cameroon, the National Network of Civil Society Organizations (RENOSCAM)was officially launched Thursday April 9th,2026 in Bepanda in the Douala V subdivision. For too long, civil society activists in Cameroon have faced public skepticism, often dismissed as ineffective due to a perceived lack of concrete field action and financial dependence. RENOSCAM emerges as a direct response to this “crisis of confidence,” seeking to bridge the gap between rhetoric and results through a structured, national alliance.RENOSCAM is not merely another association; it is designed as a modern, credible, and structured civic hub. Its primary goal is to shift the paradigm from fragmented individual efforts to a unified, strategic force for social transformation. The network’s core pillars include: Breaking the silos between CSOs to foster synergy. Ensuring the “common man” has a seat at the decision-making table. Reducing the vulnerability of CSOs to unethical practices by building internal resource capacity. Re-establishing trust through responsibility and “co-construction.”During the press conference, National Coordinator Ngum Doris emphasized that RENOSCAM is a catalyst, not a replacement, for existing organizations. “This is not coming to replace the actions of different civil societies, but to create a network for synergy,” Ngum Doris stated. “One of the vulnerabilities that leads to unethical practices is a lack of financial independence. Within the network, we intend to help CSOs understand how to become financially independent and put our resources together.

As the proverb says, ‘One hand no fit tie bundle’when we come together, we can achieve much more.”Doris also highlighted the network’s demographic focus, noting that Cameroon’s workforce is 70% youth. RENOSCAM aims to be the platform that converts this youthful energy into organized civic influence. However,RENOSCAM is rooted in the philosophy of Ubuntu dignity, responsibility, and equity. The network has identified 14 key thematic areas to drive its agenda, including:Governance & Rights,Social Welfare & Inclusion, Sustainability & Economy,Democracy & Political Rights,Education & Childhood , Youth Employability,Fight against Corruption, Health & Gender Equality, Economic Citizenship,Justice & Social Rights ,Vulnerable Groups & Minorities ,Environment & Natural Resources Culture & Tradition Migration & Refugees Social Innovation. The launch comes at a critical time. Cameroon currently faces significant civic disengagement and weak institutional accountability. RENOSCAM proposes to deconstruct “harmful civic norms”such as apathy and elitist capture of civic spaces by empowering local communities to co-create solutions based on indigenous knowledge and social solidarity. In addition,by positioning itself as a national reference platform, RENOSCAM aims to become a credible space for citizen advocacy and a partner for institutional actors and international technical partners. As the network begins its operations, the message is clear: the era of fragmented, fragile civil society is giving way to a united front dedicated to a prosperous, united, and proud Cameroon.
