Security Intensified in Kienké to Combat Rising Crime Wave

In a decisive move to restore order, law enforcement and security forces launched a large-scale crackdown in Kienké village on Saturday, March 28, 2026. The operation targeted the area surrounding the Socapalm plantation, which has recently seen a sharp spike in violent crime and insecurity. However, the raid resulted in the confiscation of a significant cache of illicit items, including:

A variety of bladed weapons, specifically machetes and knives.Large quantities of prohibited hard drugs. Several motorcycles and bicycles allegedly used by criminals to facilitate quick escapes and transport illicit goods.Authorities are currently cross-referencing vehicle registrations to identify owners and establish direct links to ongoing criminal investigations. The seized substances and weapons have been sent for forensic analysis to determine their origins. This surge in security presence is a direct response to a recent local killing that left the community in shock. Residents of Kienké have expressed growing fear, reporting that “lawless individuals” have been sowing terror throughout the town and the neighboring plantation areas. “These operations aim to strengthen security in this part of the country, which has been plagued by a repeated wave of criminal acts,” stated Bouba Haman, the Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) of the Ocean Division.Nevertheless, sustained pressure on criminal Networks have been on the rise lately.Reason why, this weekend’s raid follows the successful dismantling of a notorious gang just weeks ago an achievement made possible by the close collaboration between local residents, judicial authorities, and law enforcement. Administrative officials have signaled that this is not a one-off event. The mobilization marks the beginning of a sustained campaign to reclaim the Kienké zone from criminal elements and guarantee the long-term safety of the population.
