Over the past few weeks, Socapalm plantations across Cameroon have been conducting intensive training sessions for newly elected staff representatives. These sessions are designed to fortify representatives with the legal aptitude and professional skills necessary to effectively advocate for their colleagues’ interests. However, the training sessions, held at various plantation sites were led by Subdivisional Delegates of Labor and Social Security. The curriculum focused on: Defining the mandate of employee representatives. Understanding the statutory framework of labor laws. Equipping representatives to act as mediators between staff and management.

This initiative underscores Socapalm’s ongoing commitment to fostering a calm, constructive, and legally compliant work environment.Barbara Lienoue, Head of Communication at Socapalm, highlighted that this training is a landmark decision by management to ensure a high-standard working environment. “Socapalm has successfully completed the training and formal installation of representatives elected on January 13 for a two-year term,” Lienoue stated. “This program is a core pillar of our policy to continuously strengthen social dialogue.”She further explained that by treating staff representatives as key actors in social mediation, the company aims to:Promote constructive communication between employees and leadership.Prevent social disputes through joint resolution strategies.Drive overall performance by ensuring social cohesion and mutual respect.Nevertheless,by placing employee welfare and professional representation at the top of its priority list, Socapalm is reinforcing a “sustainable solution” approach to management. The company remains dedicated to the belief that well-trained representatives are the primary lever for maintaining a harmonious and productive social climate.
