A new book that was launched on the 5th of December has shared more light on some aspects of the law within the common law and civil law jurisdiction .

The book titled “Bail in The Common Law and Civil Law Jurisdiction of Cameroon” has seen the light of day. Written by Dr. Barrister Nkamwah Phrobert Limen, the book focused on provisional liberty within the Cameroon legal system. The book raise awareness about the often-overlooked legal rights of individuals during criminal proceedings. The author of the book Dr. Barrister Limen said it was important to understand the law’s provision for provisional liberty and legal representation when entangled in the judicial system. The author reiterated that Cameroon’s legal system is a hybrid of Common Law and Civil Law, reflecting its historical colonization by both the British and French. This duality influences legal processes, including bail. Thus Understanding the dual nature of bail in Cameroon, he went on, is essential for legal practitioners, defendants, and stakeholders. The differences in approach underline the importance of nuanced legal knowledge and advocacy for fair judicial processes.Ntumfor Barrister Nico Halle who was one of the chief launchers expressed his respect for the author’s work, highlighting its vital relevance in a country where many innocent individuals face unjust treatment. “This book addresses a critical issue that affects us all. It brings to light the struggles of many who are simply unaware of their rights,” he stated. “Liberty should never be compromised,” the author stated, advocating for non-discriminatory practices when it comes to granting bail. The idea of dignity and fairness under the law was echoed multiple times, portraying a collective aspiration for a more just legal framework.

The population has been encouraged to purchase copies of the book to share with their families, ensuring that the message of liberty extends beyond the legal community and reaches every citizen.Comments about the importance of mentorship and education in legal practice were also prominent. The population was reminded of their collective responsibility to promote awareness and understanding of legal rights, especially among the youth.
