
A major intellectual event took place in Douala on Monday, September 22, 2025, to mark the official release of the two-volume collective work, “For Communitarian Liberalism: From Ideology to Achievements.” Sponsored by the Mayor of Douala, Dr. Roger Mbassa Ndine, the event was a political and academic milestone, bringing together a distinguished audience of intellectuals, government officials, and political leaders to honor the political vision of President Paul Biya.The book, a comprehensive exploration of the president’s doctrine of communitarian liberalism, spans over 600 pages across 24 chapters. Coordinated by Professor Modi Koko and a team of seasoned academics, the work offers a detailed analysis of the political philosophy of the Renewal, examining its theoretical foundations and its practical impact on Cameroon’s socio-economic and institutional development.The official signing ceremony, held at a prestigious hotel in Douala, attracted a diverse and engaged audience. Attendees included Nicoline Ebune, who represented the Governor of the Littoral region, along with Rector of the University of Douala, Professor Magloire Ondoa, and Professor Guillaume Ekambi Dibongue, representing the Minister of Higher Education. The gathering also drew scholars, members of civil society, and young activists who came together to celebrate the book’s contribution to understanding Cameroon’s progress.In a welcoming address, Mayor Mbassa Ndine hailed the work as a “source of joy,” describing it as a rigorous testament to the achievements of the nation. He added, “The wind always blows in the right direction,” emphasizing the promising future under President Biya’s leadership.Meanwhile,Professor Jean Gatsi, a leading figure in the project, played a prominent role at the event. As a lawyer and technical advisor to the rector of the University of Douala, he contributed the foreword, the introduction, a chapter titled “Paul Biya: A Remarkable Work,” and a republican appeal he initiated.Professor Gatsi highlighted how the book demonstrates that the president “has transformed his ideas into tangible realities.” He spoke with poetic fervor about the visible impacts of this vision, from infrastructure development to strengthened community ties and environmental protection. He also shared his personal commitment, stating, “I was the first to call for his candidacy. He said yes, and we will carry this message forward.”

The Douala ceremony was the first stop for a promotional tour. The Synprove caravan is scheduled to continue its journey on September 29 at the Bafoussam Party House, where it will continue to showcase the work that chronicles the history of a united and ambitious Cameroon.
