In a tightly contested and spirited return match, the Newtown Airport Veterans FC of Douala secured a narrow 2-1 victory over ADK FC of Kribi. The friendly game, which focused on camaraderie and brotherhood, was held at the G.H.S Akwa Nord field on Saturday, September 6, 2025.The home team, Newtown Airport Veterans, broke the deadlock at the 16-minute mark with a goal from Jean Paul. However, ADK FC quickly responded with an equalizer from Leonard just 10 minutes later, sending the teams into halftime with a 1-1 tie.

In the second half, Newtown Airport Veterans scored again to take the lead. Despite both sides having missed opportunities, the home team held on to their one-goal advantage until the final whistle, with the match concluding 2-1.Meanwhile,Newtown Airport Veterans FC captain Stephane Maquel expressed his satisfaction with the win, calling it a “family score.””It’s a feeling of pride,” Maquel said. “We were welcomed by the fabulous ADK team in Kribi a few months ago, and this was a friendly ‘revenge’ match. While the score may not fully reflect the level of play, it was a very competitive game. We thank everyone for the fair play and for the great family atmosphere.”He was quick to emphasize that the true victory was in the spirit of the game. “I wouldn’t say this was about revenge because, despite the victory, it’s sport that wins; it’s the family.”For the visiting side, Oumarou Veng, president of ADK FC, highlighted the balance of the two-match series.”In the first match, they came, and we won. In the second match, we came, and they won,” Veng stated. “We see that it is brotherhood that wins, and I am satisfied.”He also shed light on the purpose of the team, which is composed of customs professionals. “We are in management procedures and the validation of declarations,” he explained. “Sport is just a means of distraction. We use it to build rapport with our colleagues in customs because importing goods in Cameroon is not easy. We follow it daily to help customs officers understand our challenges. This helps them to accompany us in our operations.
