For four days, from August 21 to 24, 2025, the Mfandena Gymnasium in Yaounde will be the epicenter of world-class badminton action.This year’s tournament marks a significant milestone, with the event now elevated to the “Challenge Series,” a prestigious category within the continental badminton circuit. This 6th edition is distinguished by three major innovations:A record 191 players from 30 countries and five continents will compete. The tournament will feature matches in all five approved categories:* Men’s Singles (MS)* Women’s Singles (WS)* Men’s Doubles (MD)* Women’s Doubles (WD)* Mixed Doubles (XD)

Nevertheless,the Badminton World Federation (BWF) has officially recognized the “Cameroon International Badminton Championships” as a Grade III Level 1 event. This upgrade comes with a substantial increase in prize money to $20,000, along with 4,000 ranking points for the winners, making it a highly sought-after competition for professional players.Adding to its prestige, the tournament has been included in the qualifying circuit for the 34th Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.
