The Douala II Municipality has boosted its waste collection resources with the purchase of a new dumper truck, which was presented at a formal reception on Friday 11 April 2025. The event, which took place on the esplanade of the town hall, was chaired by Wouri Senior Divisional Officer Sylyac Marie Mvogo and attended by key local figures, including Mayor Denise Fampou.Mayor Fampou, the only female mayor in the Wouri Division and recognised for her dynamic leadership, has prioritised the improvement of sanitation. The newly purchased truck, funded entirely from the municipal budget, brings the council’s fleet to three dedicated dump trucks.

This expansion aims to effectively address unsanitary conditions in the 33 neighbourhoods of the sub division.Meanwhile, the new truck joins an existing arsenal of waste management equipment that includes 14 tipping tricycles for pre-collection, two backhoe loaders and numerous large-capacity bins. Addressing the people of the Douala II Council Area, the SDO urged them to join the Council in achieving its goal of making the sub-division a safe haven for all.The Council also emphasises community engagement through regular cleanliness drives, spearheaded by Mayor Fampou, which promotes a collaborative approach to maintaining a clean environment.
