Roy Mama’s book launch in Douala March 29,2025 “A Blended Family” became a powerful forum for sharing deeply personal stories of blended family challenges and triumphs. Dr. Fon Elizabeth, a respected relationship coach, recounted a particularly moving case that highlighted the book’s central themes.

“I listened to a woman on the verge of divorce,” Dr. Fon Elizabeth shared. “She was overwhelmed by conflict with her stepson and a lack of support from her husband. She felt unseen and unheard.” The woman described feeling isolated and vilified, with her in-laws consistently siding against her. “Despite providing materially for the children,” Dr. Fon Elizabeth continued, “she faced constant accusations of being ‘wicked.’”Dr. Fon Elizabeth’s intervention revealed the children’s deep emotional wounds. “In Africa, we often prioritize material needs over emotional ones,” she explained. “These children, despite having every material comfort, yearned for a connection with their biological mother, whom they hadn’t seen in 19 years.” The father’s unresolved issues with the separation had created a painful emotional void.Dr. Fon Elizabeth facilitated a transformative conversation, urging the stepmother to acknowledge the children’s pain and foster a relationship with their biological mother. “I told her, ‘You’ve won the battle. Now, build love,’” she recounted. “By expressing remorse and encouraging a reunion, the stepmother unlocked a profound emotional release for the stepson.” This experience underscored the book’s message: healing and reconciliation are possible through empathy and intentional acts of love. However, Germaine Kang also known as Roy Mama, described “A Blended Family” as her autobiography, a testament to resilience and forgiveness. “This book is my life’s journey,” she said. “It’s a reflection of the strength and resilience instilled in me by my mother, Eleanor Julie.” She shared her own experiences of navigating difficult relationships, including her own divorce and the challenges of creating a blended family.

“Divorce is a choice made when happiness is unattainable,” Roy Mama asserted. “I wanted to ensure my children didn’t repeat my painful experiences.” She emphasized the book’s practical strategies for building healthy blended families, addressing issues like pain, unforgiveness, and loss. “My story is a testament to healing,” she stated, “and I hope it empowers others to do the same.”The emotional evening was attended by artists like Kocee, Phillbill, Rinyu,Asaba and Spaco, among others. The next book launch is scheduled for the USA, featuring a special celebration for exemplary stepmothers.
