The Littoral Region of Cameroon has commenced the transformative development of the Douala-Dibamba Oriental Park, a project designed to stimulate regional tourism and foster inclusive economic growth.

On Thursday, April 3, 2025, Governor Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua, alongside Douala City Mayor Dr. Roger Mbassa Ndine and other regional dignitaries ranging from traditional and political, inaugurated the park’s construction in Missole II, Dibamba. This initiative, a collaborative effort between the Douala City Council and the Oriental Park Company, signifies a significant step towards realizing the region’s tourism potential.In his keynote address, Mayor Mbassa Ndine highlighted the project’s alignment with national development goals: “This project, born from initial discussions with our Chinese partners regarding our initiative, exemplifies our commitment to the Head of State’s vision, as outlined in the SMD 30. We aim to establish Douala as a development engine for the surrounding towns. This inter-municipal cooperation, already evident in our agreement with Edea, extends to Dibamba, where we are committed to supporting the municipality’s growth amidst increasing industrial activity. Dibamba is becoming a key industrial zone in the entire littoral region and thus, need the support of all,in the such a venture.”

Meanwhile,Governor Ivaha Diboua emphasized the importance of local collaboration: “This futuristic project demands our collective attention and support. I urge municipal stakeholders from Douala and Dibamba, alongside local leaders, to actively engage in its realization. To the project developers, I stress the importance of continuous engagement with the Missolle community. Building trust and fostering a sense of ownership among the local population is crucial for the project’s success.”The ambitious 74-hectare park, representing a 36 billion CFA franc investment, will feature a comprehensive array of attractions, including a water park, a land park, and two 5-star hotels. This development aims to establish Douala as a prominent regional tourism hub.Nevertheless,with a projected annual visitor count exceeding two million, the Douala-Dibamba Oriental Park is poised to become a significant economic driver for the Littoral Region and Cameroon, positioning the nation as a premier international tourist destination.
