The Cameroon  Women Consultation Platform Towards the National Dialogue which is a network of women led associations working towards peace in Cameroon have reiterated  the call for a cease fire in the troubled North West and South West regions and for  peace to reign in Cameroon.  It is on record that the Boko Haram crisis in the Far North as well as the crisis in the North West and South West regions have led to the death of thousands of Cameroonians including young men who have left behind widows and many orphans. More to that women have been used as war weapons as they have been raped and killed and sometimes taken hostage to act as sex toys for warring camps.

Consequently, the Douala 28 meeting was to examine the above issues and look for ways to better the lives of women in general. The women led organisation also came together to evaluate its activities two years after its creation.   Created on the heels of the Major National Dialogue-MND the platform has been carrying different activities toward the promotion of peace in Cameroon. The coordination of the activities of the platform has been carried out by the Women’s League for Peace and Freedom whose President Madam Sylvie Jacqueline Ndongmo explained that, two years after the Yaounde MND, it was appropriate for the Cameroonian women united under the banner of the platform to follow up and evaluate their actions and proposed recommendations, as well as the major resolutions that were taken in the aftermath of the Major  National Dialogue , in view of the chaotic and alarming situation that continues to prevail in the regions in crisis.

She said the meeting is also an opportunity for the women led organizations to form a stronger platform with organized activities in a well-coordinated manner. Member associations are expected to take commitment to work towards the growth of the platform and the promotion of peace in Cameroon
