Some 10 Civil Society Organisations (CSO) and Community Based Organised (CBOs) have undergone a three day training on financial management. The first session of the three months training and mentorship programme organised by the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services (CBCHS) with sponsorship from the American Embassy will go a long way to strengthen the financial system of the 10 organisations. The three months financial management   and mentorship programme is also aimed at equipping the selected organisations with the necessary skills to be able to come up with clean and professional financial records. While opening the training programme in Yaoundé on July 8, the Director of the CBCHS Prof. Tih Pius Muffih said the three months long programme   will give participants the necessary skills needed to do proper financial management and financial reporting.  He was optimistic that at the end of the training   participants will be able to attract more partners and get funding that will ensure their sustainability. He thanked the US Embassy Cameroon for the trust and confidence bestowed on the CBCHS to build the capacity of some 10 CSOs in Cameroon.

On his part, the cultural affairs specialist in the US Embassy Cameroon Mr Mathias Tientcheu appreciated the role played by CSOs in the development of their country.  He said a USAID report revealed that most CSOs in Cameroon were lacking in financial management and proper project budgeting which makes it difficult to get substantial funding. Reasons why they launched the grants to train some CSOs in Cameroon on financial management. He called on participants to take lessons seriously and put in practice in their different organisations.

 While presenting the financial management technical tssistant Project, the Grants Administrator at the CBCHS Alphonse Ndi Abanda, said the project was to strengthen the capacity of 10 CSOs in the North West, South West and Littoral Regions. He further disclosed that the project sponsored by the American Embassy will go a long way to armed CSOs with the right tools in financial management and controlling money matters.  He said for three months the selected organisations will undergo thorough training and mentorship. He also took time off to present the CBCHS and their different activities and interventions.

 Meanwhile, for three days, the Main Resource persons Mr Nkwain Joseph gave an overview on financial management, financial management tools, financial manual, financial records, financial planning, internal controls and more

One of the beneficiary Organisation is Bringing Hearts Together (BHeT) whose Chief Executive Direct Madam Regina Liengu Esong revealed that the training was timely and will go a long way to edify her organisation with the necessary financial management skills.
