Members of the Young African Women Network Cameroon Chapter had a virtual session to this effect on Sunday May 16.  

 As part of the celebration marking the international Day of living together in peace, the Cameroon Chapter of the Young African Women Congress -YAWC Network organized a virtual seminar on the theme “How women can spearhead living peacefully together with families and societies during crisis”. The webinar on Sunday May 16 brought together over 15 participants from within and without Cameroon.

The guest speaker Joan Tambe Bessem identified the strength of women and elaborated on how women are the forerunners in peace building She said women should learn to be each other’s keeper and always appreciate one another.

 She added that women have a great role to play in times of crisis as they are the mothers of society,  while reminding all that those involved in fighting are born of  women as such, she urged the women folk to use their God given motherly touch to pipe down violence.

 She also urged women to always monitor their children and know their friends as well as talk to their children often. To her this will help mothers to identify and prevent future problems Gender activist  Joan Tambe Bessem reiterated the importance of empowering and educating women to be self-independent. She cautioned mothers to discuss sex education with their children and to avoid discrimination amoghts children.

On her part, the YAWC Network chapter president Rosaline Akah Obah added that women should be tolerant and do their best to give  peace a chance .She encouraged collaborative actions in search of peace. She encouraged all to work for peace as war is very costly.

The session that was moderated by the YAWC Network Chapter Vice president Violet  Mongidor also gave an opportunity for  participants  to reinforced their capacity  on  the Start Awareness Support and Action, SASA methodology.
