This was during the First General Assembly Meeting that took place in Yaoundé Recently

Members of the Cameroon Community Media Network have reaffirmed their commitment to ensure the growth of the Network and the development of the community. This was during the first general assembly meeting that took place in Yaounde on the 26 of February. During the meeting that saw delegates from all the six chapters of the network nationwide was also a moment for the delegates to examine the chatter for a better management of the network. During the deliberations, delegates agreed that regional elections will take place in November while national Elections will take place in December and voting by proxy is not allowed
Prior to the deliberations, the CCMN national Coordinator Madam Rosaline Akah Obah called on members to remain professional in the exercise of their duty. In her words, “as CCMN, we are out to shift the narratives, tone down on every crisis situation and not be spurious. Let us continue to stick to the mission of the network which is to uphold peace journalism principles, be solution oriented, giving a voice to the voiceless and practicing journalism with a human face’. She said CCMN has registered a lot of successes in the past year such as the upgrading from two to six chapters nationwide with over 222 members. She said amidst the successes they were some challenges that made CCMN stronger. She also hail all those who contributed to the birth of the CCMN.

While presenting activities of the Network for the year 2020, the National Secretary General of CCMN Yanick Fonki outlined major activities of the national executive some of which included the signing of q partnership agreement with SOPISDEW and other NGOs that permitted CCMN members in the various chapters to execute some projects. The national executive also engaged in a partnership with “Bread for the World” that permitted the network to seek funding. CCMN built the capacity of members through seminars and webinars despite the ravaging effects of COVID 19 pandemic.
Other resolutions arrived at during the meeting included, registered media organs should avoid multiple representations to enhance clarity, annual dues should be paid from 1st January to 31st of March each year, members who arrived late during network meetings or leave before the end of the meeting shall not be entitled to benefits, a member is not allowed to hold executive position both at the chapter and national level.
Members also agreed that a Memorandum of Understanding will be rectified for final signing with PCC in the months ahead.
