The gifts will go a long way to cater for their regular health crisis

Sickle cell patients in the North West region on Saturday July 25 benefitted from medication, first Aid and anti Covid 19 kits such as face masks, buckets, soap from the
Centre for International Development and Training (CIDT). The gifts which will go a long way to cater for the regular health crisis of sickle cell sufferers in the crisis hit North West and South West Regions of Cameroon is in line with the centre’s Covid 19 Response project.
While offering the gifts, the project lead for COVID-19 response, Rosaline Akah Obah told Liengu’s Diary that the items are sufficient to last for a minimum of three months. She added that kids and minority groups are also beneficiaries of the project in both the North West and South West Regions with focus on how to manage the COVID-19 health crisis. She also took time off to caution the beneficiaries to respect barrier measures against Covid 19.

Rosaline Akah Obah has also announced that apart from the donation of non food items, there shall also be the production of programmes in partnership with Cameroon Community Media Network CCMN in North West and South West with a broadcast to be done by 10 radio stations in both regions. In her words “A survey will be carried out in the communities in the days ahead to ascertain how inhabitants have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the distribution of kits will continue”.

It should be recalled that the project intends to respond to this need by generating essential data and evidence to fill the information gaps. To realise this, the project looks forward to raising awareness about the virus and measures to prevent/combat the disease in local communities, identify the impacts of the virus on persons with disabilities, women in the local communities.
