They have been schooled on conflict resolution techniques

Over 25 women in the North West Region have been drilled on Peace Building and Conflict Transformation. This was during a one day training workshop organised by the Justice and Peace Commission of the Archdiocese of Bamenda. These grass-root women ,mostly market women popularly known as ‘buyam Sellams,’ farmers, local community leaders, church leaders, teachers, journalists, housewives just to name these few, were edified on strategies to build peace, and how to resolve conflicts beginning from the family, to the community especially in their different areas of influence.

The main Facilitator and peace building consultant who also doubles as the National Coordinator of the Cameroon Community Media Network CCMN, Madam Rosaline Akah Obah, taught the women what conflict transformation is all about. At the end of the day, the women resolved to come out from their shelves and function as local women peace builders capable of resolving conflicts in their various communities through taking part in visible actions and decisions, bearing in mind that they have a pivotal role to place in the peace building process in the two English speaking regions and Cameroon in general. They equally accepted that they were part of the solution, and therefore must be active for peace to return in the nation.

For the coordinator of the Justice and Peace Commission of the Archdiocese of Bamenda, Madam Laura Anyola Tufon the training was in line with the “Now is the Time for Peace” released by the Archdiocese of Bamenda. Madam Laura Anyola Tufon also took time off to challenged the women to be part of conflict resolutions in their communities.
