CCMN/ PCC Determine to promote peace

The NW Chapter of the Cameroon Community Media Network-CCMN has reaffirmed its engagement with the Presbyterian Church In Cameroon (PCC) to focus on Peace Journalism and Conflict Transformation using a Humanitarian based approach to better serve the community.

This was during the launching of the second phase of Peace Journalism and Conflict Transformation Project that took place at the Church Centre Mankon multipurpose hall on Friday July 24th. The North West Executive bureau and its members saw the meeting as a sign of togetherness to applaud the renewal of an existing tie between the PCC through its Peace office and the CCMN.

Members Ready to be part of the project

In her opening remark, the Regional Coordinator for CCMN NW, Rosaline Akah Obah, encouraged members not to rest on their laurels to ensure that the 2nd phase is a success at the end of the day while thanking the PCC for the efforts to ensure journalists are part of the peace building process via the project.

Rev Nta William Nche, PCC National Peace Project Coordinator on his part saluted the turnout  which to him is an indication of the willingness to work together and forge ahead. He reiterated that he is on a national tour to launch the 2nd phase of the Peace and Conflict transformation project ” it is the same project but we shall give it a Humanitarian touch focusing on IDPs, persons with disabilities and minority groups”, Rev. Nta William Nche reiterated.

PCC and CCMN working for peace

He went further with  a situational analysis using the SWOT analysis which took members back to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses. Some of the strengths included:  capacity building, peaceful approach in reporting, engagement of CSOs amongst others while Weaknesses cantered on insecurity, laxity on productions, language barriers etc. The PCC national Peace Coordinator saluted the strengths and encouraged members to transform the weaknesses to strengths.
