CCMN Littoral members

Members of the Cameroon Community Media Network-CCMN Littoral last Friday March 20 held their first network meeting. The meeting that took place at the Regional Delegation of Communication in Bonanjo brought together about  20   Journalists from both the English and the French expression. The meeting came exactly two months after the Littoral chapter   saw the light of day. During the meeting, the CCMN Littoral regional coordinator madam Regina Liengu Etaka Esong took time off to explain the principles of CCMN to the members.  She also gave details on membership and other advantages of belonging.

 The meeting was a high point for the finance clerk Mbaku Jude to make known the one year plan of action for CCMN Littoral. The one year action plan which is pregnant with capacity building workshops for members was appreciated by all. Mbaku Jude also disclosed that CCMN Littoral network meeting will take place ever two months and each meeting will be an opportunity for members to gained skills on selected topics.

During the main presentation of the day on conflict analysis, the Regional Coordinator  Madam Regina Liengu Etaka Esong entreated the Peace Journalists on the  stages of   conflict using the conflict tree and how to go about reporting conflict  so as to deescalate violence. She explained that Conflict Analysis is a set of tools and methods used by peace and security experts to better understand the causes, actors and dynamics of conflict in order to better come out with sustainable solutions to the conflict. Thus, as peace journalists it was important to understand the stages of conflicts so as to report accurately. Regina Liengu Etaka Esong said understanding conflict analysis will enable journalists to identify and restore parts of stories about conflict routinely omitted or marginalised.  She said journalist can use knowledge gained in helping their communities resolve their conflicts to attain lasting peace for a peaceful society.

Group Work

 During group work, members were able to outline the consequences of conflicts and how to prevent them. Meanwhile Dominic Meme of Sweet Fm and Veronica Aji were installed as the new secretary general  and assistant respectively
